I am SOOOOOO HAPPY with how this turned out!
More Richard Harrow artwork guys, in a scene you’ve NEVER seen him in before (because I constructed it in my brain).
This time around, I use more abbreviated realism than manga technique in my art, going for a more “gritty, real” feel, while at the same time staying in a format that LOOKS like it could be a screenshot from an animated series. I wanted it to feel as clean and have as much depth as possible, so I focused on textures and shadows, and tried to stay away from making it too dark-lit. I have a dirty habit of making things dark, as I see well in the dark and prefer the dark, sadly this makes it somewhat hard for people with -normal- eyes to see my artwork! All they tend to see is something lurking in the shadows. I almost didn’t make the scene happen in the rain, but it was too dull and didn’t have enough impact despite the painful expression, the rain was a “happy mistake” that turned into something WONDERFUL to me.
The blood only adds to the symbolism of his mask, I like to think. A man torn between his humanity and the shock he endured in World War I, of which turned him into a killer. Who is he anymore? He obviously doesn’t like himself much, can he change that? Can he ever attain his dreams of having a family despite himself?
This was SUCH a hard pose to draw him in. The foreshortening was MADNESS, though with the finished product, I have very little to complain about. I think perhaps this is my best artwork of anything yet.
SO, WHADDYA THINK GUYS? EH? EH?

Aaa, Richard looks great here (in that he looks so tragic and haunted) ;^(
Nice detail with the scruffy tie + collar. If there's one thing Boardwalk Empire has driven home is the importance of a sharp-dressed man.
It's definitely a tricky pose/perspective to pull off. Nicely done!
